BIGSPIN
A 360 Shove-It, from a fakie, with a 180 Body Varial in the same direction as the Shove-It. There are many
variations of this move -- going foward, BigSpin Flip, etc.
Frontside & Backside Salad
A combination of a 5-0 grind and a bluntslide - a grind/slide with both the back truck and tail
of the skateboard on the obstacle. Think of it as a 'crooked 5-0'.
Smith Grind
The back truck grinds an edge or rail, while the front truck hangs over the near side of the object
leaving the edge of the deck to rub the lip/edge.
Feeble grind
the back truck grinds a rail while the front truck hangs over rail's far side.
360 flip
A combination of a backside 360 shove-it and a kickflip.
Cabalerial
It is another name for a Fakie Frontside/Backside 360 ollie. The Cabalerial was named after Steve
Caballero, who invented the trick in the early 1980s. The trick was originally performed on vert ramps
or pools but has since been adapted to flatground.
Nosegrind
The skateboard's front truck grinds a rail or edge, while the back truck is suspended over the rail/edge.
It is similar to the nose manual, except performed on a rail, coping, or ledge.
Hardflip
A Hardflip is a frontside pop shove-It with a kickflip. This is one of the hardest tricks to learn because
of the awkward way the feet have to move in order to make the board spin correctly.
Kickflip
The kickflip is a trick in which the rider does an ollie, but while dragging their foot up the board to
level out the Ollie, flicks their front foot off of the board to the heel side to create enough force
to spin the board one full 360 rotation along the imaginary axis described above. If flicked harder,
two or three full flips can be imparted on that axis. These are called double or triple kickflips.
Front Blunt Fakie
The back truck is placed over the lip of the ramp and the tail is placed on the lip, appearing
like a stationary blunt stall, hence the name. A small ollie is then performed to come off the lip
and ride back down the ramp in fakie.
Crooked Grind
Also called Crooks, or the K-grind after the man to whom the trick is most commonly accredited,
Eric Koston. It is like a nosegrind, but the tail of the board is angled away from the rail/ledge
on which the trick is performed, causing the edge of the deck's nose to also rub.
Backflip
The Backflip is an aerial where the rider and his board complete a full rotation on the lateral axis.
If the trick is done by launching out of the ramp, the skater lands forwards. If it's done on the
wall of a vert ramp, the skater lands backwards, adding significantly to the difficulty and danger
involved.
